Researching Early Modern Europe: Barbara Stollberg-Rilinger in Conversation

The Oxford Centre for European History warmly invites graduate students, early career researchers and postholders to an informal conversation with Professor Barbara Stollberg-Rilinger. Rector of the Berlin Institute for Advanced Study (Wissenschaftskolleg) and a former Professor of History at the University of Münster, Stollberg-Rilinger is one of the foremost historians of Europe from the 16th century to the 18th. Her main research focus is on political rituals and procedures, metaphors and symbols. Among her numerous publications are the books Maria Theresa: The Habsburg Empress in Her Time (2022), The Holy Roman Empire: A Short History (2018), and The Emperor’s Old Clothes: Constitutional History and the Symbolic Language of the Holy Roman Empire (2015).
